The brief
An agent marketing new-build lots supplied photographs of the actual completed builds and wanted the fronts worked up from them — fencing removed, a resin driveway added — plus a kitchen and an eating-space interior from the architect's drawings.
Our approach
The exteriors combine the real photography with CGI edits and staging; the interiors were modelled from the plans. The revision round changed the black flooring to stone and lightened the patio.
The result
Four visuals delivered: two exteriors worked up from photographs and two interiors from the drawings.
What this render has to do
This set mixes two kinds of image on purpose. The exteriors start from photographs of houses that actually exist: a brick house with steep clay-tile roofs, dormers and a dark garage door, seen from the street, and the same house from the garden side with a patio and parasol. The interiors, a dining space and a kitchen, were modelled from the architect's drawings.
Lot marketing depends on showing a believable home as it will be lived in. Photographs supply the truth; CGI supplies what is missing: a driveway finish, staging, furniture and the finished feel of a home that is ready to move into.
Materials, light and camera
On the front elevation, orange-red brick with stone lintels and darker banding sits under a tiled roof, with a resin driveway added in place of the plain ground and the fencing taken out. At the back, large paving, an outdoor sofa set and potted palms stage the patio in warm afternoon light.
Inside, the dining room pairs an oak table and green upholstered chairs with a green glazed display cabinet, paper-lantern pendants and an arched window, while bifold doors show the terrace beyond. The kitchen has sage shaker cabinets, brass handles, a stone waterfall island, a butler sink and stone-look floor tiles. A single sage-green thread ties the interiors together.
How a set like this is built
For the exteriors we work on the supplied photograph: we remove what should not be there, such as fencing, then add staging and CGI elements that match its camera and light. For the interiors we build the rooms from the architect's plans and elevations, light them to suit the garden views and style them with furniture and props.
The revision round on this job was typical of how finishes get settled once an image is visible: black flooring changed to stone and the patio was lightened. For wider context, display-home renders and house-and-land packages work the same way, and our briefing guide explains how to supply photographs and drawings together.
Working with us on a similar project
Supply the original photographs at full size, the plans and elevations for any interiors, and a short note on what to change in each exterior. Exteriors start from A$445 and interiors from A$345; you will have a fixed quote inside a business day.
We aim to have a first set with you in five to seven business days. Billing is split evenly between starting the work and signing off the draft, and up to four revision rounds are included. Mixed sets are common: our 3D exterior renders and interior renders pages show each side, and a single quote can cover the lot. The set here was four visuals in all.
Questions
Residential exterior: questions clients ask
Yes. We can remove elements such as fencing, add finishes like a resin driveway and stage the garden, while keeping the real building. Interiors for the same set are modelled from the plans, so exterior and interior images share one style.
Yes. We model each room from the architect's plans and elevations, then add finishes, furniture and lighting. This lets you market a kitchen or dining space while the build is still under way, with the garden view in place.
Finish changes, such as swapping a floor from dark to stone or lightening a patio, are normal in the first revision round. Up to four rounds are included, and changes are applied to the model so every view stays consistent.
